A&A Teaches Project Management at Penn. College of Technology
Our Senior Project Manager Nick Lykon was recently invited to be a guest instructor at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA. Nick spoke to two classes of Construction Management students; one class comprised of sophomores and the other juniors. Both classes were given a presentation by Nick followed by a Q&A session. The presentation was focused around understanding “the vision” of a project and the practical principles of project management.
The well-received presentation consisted of three parts: an introduction and overview of the heavy rigging and machinery moving industry; the basic principles of project management; and a case study showing these basic project management principles applied to an actual project completed by A&A Machinery Moving.
The presentation included images from many projects supporting the practical content delivered to the students from the perspective of a Project Manager executing projects with technical and logistical challenges. The question and answer session following the presentation was active with students asking questions pertaining to project management and the heavy rigging industry.
Nick Lykon has over thirty-five years of experience in the heavy rigging, machinery moving and machinery sales business. Nick is also the current President and Chairman of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Machinery Dealers National Assocation (MDNA). He is active in his community and currently an elected Township Supervisor in Plumstead Township, PA where he resides.
